I like the contrast of the color over the black - I also like that the butterfly image is such a contrast with the figure image. the only part I'm not sure about are the alien-type figures - I like the shape and motion of them, but I'm not sure I like them with the whole piece... I honestly can't decide. there is something kind of creepy about them, which is maybe what the piece is all about. without them the image would be a portrait of a "beautiful" woman whereas, with the alien figures you are reminded of the distortion of beauty represented by such models and images...
The distortion is "the idea," but I don't want the painting to be slapping the viewer in the face with it. I will work on this piece...I think that the butterflies shoule have more emphasis and that the background image should be blurred somehow.
