I also found a dutch artist named Otto Egberts whose art has the same bold, grotesque imagery of Bacon's work.

These artists are able to tell stories of disturbing horror.
Have you ever tried to create a piece to illustrate a nightmare? Do you remember my painting "Fear"? Maybe we should each try to paint something in this style, because it is so removed from both of our aesthetic...what do you think?
that's an interesting idea - I do want to stretch my style more which is why I started the "memory" series. I usually paint without any definite plan or subject matter in mind and sometimes I think I'm afraid to do anything too realistic or revealing.
ReplyDeletethere are other artists with similar work, but I can't remember names right now... Anselm Keifer comes to mind, but I'm not sure if his work is really as frightening as Bacon...
