"Merging materiality and language, this installation explores aspects of the physical and emotive façade. It examines the nature and efficacy of a cultural veneer while operating on the threshold between physical and cerebral space."
that quote is from her website - I'm not really sure what it means. if anyone can clarify, that would be cool.

inspiration: Kate Just
I have been very inspired by knitting lately and always on the lookout for new work and new artists that I haven't seen before. Kate Just is a Melbourne artist creating these large scale knitted sculptures - check her website for more information and more images.
"Kate Just is a Melbourne based artist best known for her sculptural knitting practice informed strongly by emotional and autobiographical references. Experiences of childhood memory, migration, and the death of her brother influenced early works. Imbued with a sense of melancholy and disconnection that came with leaving and losing family, large scale knitted sculptures include Uniform (Dad) (2002) of Just's father in his police uniform, and Family (2004) a sculpture of Just's own family." from her website, Kate Just

Top 5 Etsy Shops
I have neglected my posting duties, so now I am back and forcing myself to post more. I searched for watercolor paintings and I ended up finding great pieces (some from artists that I have already posted work from--but I was just looking at the images, so it just shows I really like these artists). I also put in one of my pieces because it came up on my search and I like it.

I learned about this artist from a link in ART MARKETING ACTION, the weekly newsletter from Alyson B. Stanfield - ArtBizCoach (she also has a great blog: ArtBizBlog). Her work is gorgeous! I am very inspired by the simplicity of color and design - the work is very powerful and I'm sure in person it would be even more compelling. The piece shown above is part of "Dispersion, a multi-part work 11' x 7'6" completed during the artist's residency, consists of 15 drawings, each 24" x 30", in sepia ink on painted paper." Please visit the artist's website to see more!

10 Years Ago - meme found on Loobylu
10 Years Ago :: Loobylu:
this looks so cool - Colin, I would totally love to see what you come up with... I might try it... (go check out Loobylus finished comic, it's cool)
“Draw a ten panel comic about what you were doing ten years ago. Put pen straight to paper - no pencil, no computer, no planning, no starting again if you make a mistake. Simply draw, scan, publish. Tag some people who you’d like to see do the meme too. Oh and if you want to do it even if you haven’t been tagged you are most welcome!”"

this just looks really cool...
found on whip up - I love large collections of stuff, and anyone who knows me would probably agree - I tend to collect things. not a real collection in the sense that my things have value, like baseball cards, but just the enormous piles of stuff... like yarn, or fabric, like all that stuff that "I could definitely use someday" so don't throw it out.

"crochet experiments gooseflesh has laid out all her crochet experiments and its quite an eclectic collection."
